RSS Supply Mooring Ropes for TS Queen Mary

We are delighted to be able to report that Scotland’s leading manufacturer of lifting equipment is supporting the restoration of TS Queen Mary.

Grangemouth based Rope and Sling Specialists Ltd have provided eight new mooring ropes for TS Queen Mary, worth almost £6,000.

Each rope is 50 metres in length and has a pulling load of 24.5 tonnes.

Davey Walker (Business Development Director at RSS) says:

“We are delighted to support Britain’s engineering heritage by supplying new ropes for TS Queen Mary. We are proud to give back to the community we serve and we are pleased to be playing our part in the restoration of this iconic ship”.

Captain Mark Yeomans (Head of Marine) says:

“We are thrilled to receive this very generous corporate gift. TS Queen Mary’s safety is my primary concern; knowing that she will be moored with brand new ropes supplied by Rope and Sling Specialists Ltd is tremendously reassuring”.

Crawford Paterson (Vice Chairman) says:

“The in-kind support enjoyed by TS Queen Mary continues to be remarkable, demonstrating the real pride and passion that so many in Britain have in its maritime heritage in general, and this beautiful ship in particular. This fantastic donation saves the Charity six thousands pounds and so it goes without saying that we are indebted to Rope and Sling Specialists Ltd”.

The new ropes are the first bespoke set to be supplied to the ship since she was acquired by the Charity, and they should last at least until the end of the restoration project.
